What does it look like to live in a place of genuine overflow when everything around us seems to be running dry? Drawing from the powerful account in 1 Kings 17, we explore the story of a widow who had exhausted her resources, buried her hope, and spoken the language of defeat — only to discover that God had something far greater in store. The central lesson here is striking: our past experiences of loss and our present circumstances of lack do not have to define or forecast our future. Just as the widow's flour and oil never ran dry despite a famine, God's supply is never exhausted. We are challenged to examine the areas of our lives where we have allowed the weight of yesterday's pain or today's struggle to silence the promises of God. The story does not shy away from the tension we all feel — the moments when we blame, doubt, and speak words filled with fear rather than faith. Yet it is precisely in those moments that the invitation to overflow becomes most relevant. If we are willing to shift our focus from our limitations to God's promises, we may find that the very trials we are walking through are not our destination but the path to something greater.
