This powerful message takes us on a journey through Genesis 13 and 14, exploring what it means to be gathered with people we didn't choose—much like that third-grade classroom where we first learned that life puts us in proximity with diverse individuals. The central question 'Where am I?' challenges us to understand our location in relationships and our role as kingdom influencers. When Lot becomes a prisoner of war he didn't start, we see ourselves or someone we know—trapped, hurting, stuck in circumstances beyond their control. But here's the beautiful truth: there's always 'one who escaped' who becomes the whistleblower, the intercessor. We're called to be that person for others, going to the Father on behalf of those who can't go themselves. The parallel story in Mark 2 of four men carrying a paralyzed friend to Jesus reveals the radical nature of true healing ministry. These men didn't just pray from a distance—they ripped off a roof! They went beyond normal, beyond comfortable, beyond what made sense. Healing people heal people, but it requires us to carry those who can't walk, to have faith for those who've lost theirs, and to address internal wounds before expecting external transformation. The proximity principle reminds us that we will be close to people, and our influence must undeniably be the kingdom of God—not the kingdoms of this world or darkness.
