Our world has been upended. We have made changes not out of personal desire but out of public necessity. We have willingly traded our life of normalcy for a socially distant abnormality of existence. Our God given right to freedom has been sacrificed at the altar of government instituted safety.
All the while, we have prayed, listened and watched. Searching for an elusive hopefulness in this unprecedented time. Trying to muster up some form of expectation for a turn around and at the same time being gun shy to do so. We can all relate to the man in Mark 9:24; “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.”
While many, have heard the stories of people who have experienced the tragic aftermath of struggling with Covid-19, others have experienced first hand that pain. Millions have lost jobs that provided their livelihood. We have watched vibrant businesses brought down to a shell of their former state. Even our terminology has been replaced with words that were distant in our vocabulary. Words such as pandemic, quarantine, lockdown, ventilator and vaccine are words we wish would disappear, never again to be needed. I could go on and on about our current struggles. The struggle is real!
For a moment though I want us to look at the less told story. A good friend recently shared this…
- Nearly half of all Americans say that their mental health has been negatively impacted.
- 3 out of every 4 say their sleep has been impacted.
- Domestic violence is up by 20% (NYC 15% increase in March, 30% in April) in most areas.
- Projection of 15M additional domestic violence cases worldwide for 2020
I am praying for people in our nation and around the world to experience peace. Ephesians 2:14 says “He is our Peace.” Jesus is our peace.
Will you join me in praying for people to know real peace?
Knowing Jesus is experiencing authentic peace. 1 Peter 5:7 says, “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” The Passion Translation renders it this way.
“Pour out all your worries and stress upon him and leave them there, for he always tenderly cares for you.”
Jesus is saying “He has got it.” Don’t carry it all by yourself, no matter the conditions.
Whether our world is in pandemic or pandemonium
Whether our country is in a quarantine or a quagmire
Whether our market is a bull or a bear
Whether our economy is reeling or reopening
Whether our faith is shaken or solid
Whether our test is positive or negative
Whether our choice is mask or no mask
Jesus is Peace! You can cast your care on Him. He cares for you. He loves you more than you will ever know. Give the pain, the stress, the worry and anxiety to Him.
